Graebener® pipe bending presses ensure a highly flexible and economic production of LSAW pipes and special pipes even with increased wall thickness and small diameters. The special feature of our internationally proven technology is the increased stroke of the bending sword. The stroke is selected in a way that the bending sword can be pulled out of the pipe completely. After the bending process the remaining gap of the open seam pipe can be pushed together by means of the bending sword. This reduces the gap significantly and an additional pipe closing press no longer is necessary. This advantage is especially important in case of increased wall thickness and materials with increased springback so that the open seam pipes can be tacked continuously in a downstream MAG Tack welding process using our Graebener® continuous root tacking machine. Further, the sword and the tool change no longer necessary: the bending sword and the corresponding lower tools are suitable for universal use for various pipe diameters.
In addition to this, you as operator can benefit from our electronic radius measurement system RadiiPro®. By means of this, the operator no longer needs to carry out the radius check manually using a template but can do so on the screen of the operating desk – convenient, safe and precise. The loss of time caused by manual radius measurement is eliminated.

When designing the press frame, we pay special attention to the deflection of the upper and lower traverse. All components subject to dynamic loads are optimized by means of FEM simulations and adapted to your individual requirements. In addition to this, we always integrate a deflection compensation for the upper and lower traverse to achieve an optimum bending result. This way, the bending result is at no time depending on the machine deflection under load. The corresponding lower tools are suitable for universal use and do not need to be exchanged.
An optimum pipe bending process requires a perfect interaction of operator and machine. For this reason, we have developed the control visualization PressPro®. Thanks to PressPro® you can independently set up, operate and optimize the pipe bending process.
The machine operator does not need programming knowledge for the programming of the optimum process sequence. With the aid of an user-friendly teach-in process, the operators are provided with a tabular overview listing the individual process steps clearly and transparently. In the various operating modes, different functions of the system are available, whether in single stroke or in automatic mode. Thanks to an optimum interlinking of the mechanics and the controlled axes such as for example cylinder, hydro or electric motors etc., you can achieve highly precise bending results with the Graebener® pipe bending press. The position of each individual axis is monitored using absolute position encoders with SSI interface.
To protect your operators and the machine we use safety components in the control, the hydraulics and the drive technology which prevent involuntary movements of the axes or overload at the machine.
Up until today, reviewing the bending results has always been done using an analogue template, which the machine operator places onto partially bent pipe in order to check the radius. To improve this time-consuming, costly and error-prone process, we have developed an electronic radius measuring system together with fabforce®, a specialist for Industry 4.0 applications:
RadiiPro® works with a laser system that transmits the contour being bent live to the operator's screen. Simultaneously, the software compares the bending of the contour with the desired target radius and calculates the contour deviations. Using RadiiPro®, the radius can now be checked in real time and also conveniently, safely and precisely from the monitor. In addition to this, RadiiPro® provides insights into the material behavior of the pipe and calculates the local curvature of the contour. Thus, a high-precision measuring of the forming process is possible even on very small measuring sections and information about the optimum bending step size, the correct tolerance values and the evenness of the pipe can be provided.
